Did you know that this Mosaic was included in the TPB release of Last Stand of the Wreckers?

That was fun, though a little hard to follow the introduction during the first 3-4 times.

I really like the art, but the colours look like they've washed over the line work during the colouring.

Awwwww yeah! LSotW is going to go down in TF history as one of the very best, and now it's got a Mosaic connection. I think I may explode.

Dense. There is a lot of content on this page, and now I know that everything everyone's been saying about LSotW is going to prove true when I pick up the trade. It's a great prequel!

Congrats to everyone in The Project for our third anniversary! And here's to to the professionals who have contributed and the contributors who have gone professional. Let's keep on astounding!

As well they should be. The Mosaic is very indicative of the series itself. (Quick characterization through dialogue, narrative tricks for dense flow, little touches in the background and subtle logical connections that you don't realize until second glance... it's like a little writer joygasm.)

Sometimes I feel like Roche is the only professional in the comic field who treats Transformers like serious sci fi.

And Roberts, too. ;)

I'd be willing to hazard a guess that it's at least partly because they're across the pond. Here in the US, I wager most non-fans just know TF as "that show with the kiddie transforming robots", and many people who are fans only remember the cartoon, which wasn't exactly a bastion of good writing. On top of that, comics here tend to equal superheroes.

Whereas over yonder, they're both fans, and fans who grew up with Marvel UK. And on top of that, what with Doctor Who being popular, I wager scifi is a little more "mainstream" and known.

Granted, this is very off-the-cuff reasoning and guesswork, but I have noticed that the UK native fans and USers like Thunderwing who favor Marvel UK tend to be the more serious TF writers who don't treat TF as "just a kiddie property" as often. (Go check out the archives of the TMUK material, for instance, if you haven't already.)

It makes sense. I really enjoy the Marvel UK stuff whenever I can get my hands on it, and that's all very hardcore with the science fiction elements.

Plus, there's a stigma attached to being a science fiction fan over here, even today. I'm sure that factors into things.

I haven't read very much of it, but what I did I liked, and Furman's stories were certainly among the best of the US run, IMHO.

And, yeah, you're probably right there too. Which is a shame, because otherwise I think scifi is one of the few genres where we can boast about having some of the best writers be our natives, plus a lot of the classic SF magazines and such are HQed here.

Holy greatest thing ever! Seriously, I don't even know where to begin with how awesome this is! Happy Mosaic Birthday to everyone who's been involved in this project since the beginning, and a hearty, "You rock!" to whoever came up with this idea for the anniversary piece! And Nick and James, if you read this, fantastic job (as always), and thanks for sharing this with all of us!

I've been trying to find the words to say how much I enjoyed this. How much I loved that all of you worked together on it. How great everything about it is. But I'm failing. So just know that I faved it hard, and will look back at it again.
